Michael Owen could pay for his loss of form tonight as there is a strong possibility that he could remain on the bench. This is Fabio Capello’s first match in charge of England and although changes in the team aren’t too drastic, the only black n’ white player in his squad is Michael Owen. Yet, Owen did score over the weekend against Boro’ which marked his first league goal since October last year. However, that may not be enough to prove Owen’s scoring prowess. Either way, I’m hoping England will sail past Switzerland and importantly, Owen will remain uninjured given his track record in Internationals.

Last night the Under 21s had success against the Republic of Ireland by netting three and keeping a clean sheet. Magpies player, James Milner went onto the score sheet with a stunning low shot form 25yds. Unlike there senior counterparts who have lacked success, Stuart Pearce has guided his young England squad within reaching distance of qualifying for Euro 2009 play offs
