With summer almost upon us and only a handful of games left, transfer talk is hotting up. Despite our uncertainty in the Premiership , the club will still talk up the chase for players. As with many clubs rebuilding next season, Spurs seems to be one who would like to offload players with speculation swirling around Michael Dawson and Pascal Chimbonda who both are rumoured to be on Keegan’s target list. Although longstanding Toon target, Berbatov is unlikely to leave Spurs for anything less than 20k perhaps, we do stand a chance of getting two defenders off them. No doubt if the current three go down, Keegan would most likely look at acquiring players from any sell offs whilst keeping an eye on James McFadden.

It appears that Newcastle misfit, David Rozehnal is heading back to St James’ after not having the best of times on loan at Lazio. Rozer was brought in by Big Sam initially solve defensive problems however that was not always the case with our Czech friend. Now that he’ll probably be back with us come the summer, it would be unclear what would happen to the player. He’ll have to do some bridge building after some unkind words said about the club!

Through good and bad times, it comes to no surprise to see Sir Bobby Robson in the Director’s box supporting the Mags at St James’. Always a loyal supporter and always offering views about latest goings-on at the club. It’s strange how the board haven’t given him something to do in an official capacity yet. Anyway, Sir Bobby has braved cancer for a long time and I encourage anybody to support the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, set up to fund cancer research. The aim is to build treatment rooms and a laboratory at the new cancer care centre at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital. A worthy cause which you can make a donation to by following this link: www.justgiving.com/TheSirBobbyRobsonFoundation or by posting a cheque to: Sir Bobby Robson Foundation, PO Box 307, Heaton, NE7 7QG.

England Friendlies time again. Michael Owen is aiming for another cap as desperately as Beckham. Owen has been firing goals so it would not surprise anyone if he has a place in the starting line up. He’s looking fit and sharp and should see through the 90mins against France. As for Capello, this will be a tough test but I believe England have a good chance of seeing this through.
