Derby County v Newcastle United Match Preview

Tuesday, February 9th, 2010

On the back of fantastic thumping we gave Cardiff on Friday night, focus quickly turns back to tonight’s match against Derby. Confidence must be back to sky-high levels but there is still a job to do here. West Brom managed to tighten up the points difference back to three with their win Plymouth at the [...]

10 Men Leicester Frustrate On The Day

Monday, February 1st, 2010

Despite Richie Wellens being sent off within half an hour, Newcastle were unable to capitalise on a ‘weakened’ 10 men Leicester side. The team did make several attempts to get that elusive goal but it never really materialised with shots by Ranger and Smith being either blocked or in Ranger’s case, called offside. Harper had [...]

Kevin Nolan Hits Home Against Preston

Tuesday, November 24th, 2009

It was another scrappy match but the second half goal by super Kev was enough to seal the maximum points haul for Newcastle. The team have always suffered a bit in their away form and a Monday night match wasn’t ideal either. Unsurprisingly the Preston side was able to hit the ground running in the [...]

Back to Back Wins Restore Pride In The Newcastle United Badge

Monday, September 14th, 2009

Ahh, it’s been a long time when I last wrote something positive in this blog but the 1-0 win in Cardiff has essentially put the smiles back all round. Even the yellowly custard Away shirts show something of the brighter outlook we are having. Yes, there’s still issues with Ashley’s dithering but at least its [...]

Newcastle United Thump Reading For Three

Sunday, August 16th, 2009

Shola Ameobi scored a rare hat-trick fittingly gave tribute to the late Sir Bobby Robson. The match played out to a crowd of around 35,000 supporters and was over seen by current owner, Mike Ashley (everyone stand up)  and also close by Barry Moat. The match was summed up by some characteristic spirit and grit [...]

Scrappy Championship Debut For Newcastle United in One-All Draw

Saturday, August 8th, 2009

It wasn’t exactly the dream start to the Championship that the team wanted but some hard work proved enough to grab a draw in our first match as a Championship club. Both us and West Brom fought frantically at times to grab goals and luckily a offside call in the dying minutes ensured that the [...]

Showdown At Villa Park – Will Newcastle Go Up or Down?

Friday, May 22nd, 2009

I’ve been dreading the last match of the season since the start of the week. It’s been like a dark cloud hanging over me. The crunch match on Sunday will be a thrilling spectacle of guts and determination from Newcastle United. I’m pretty sure of it. We have some injuries on the cards namely Beye. [...]

5 Things Newcastle United Should Do If They Survive Relegation

Wednesday, April 8th, 2009

Right the situation is this; Let’s assume Newcastle United hang on in at position 16 come the end of the 08-09 Prem season. Everybody is jubilant but the shift now would be to Ashley and what plans he has. Here’s a top 5 list of what he should be doing in the summer…
5. Shearer – [...]

Alan Shearer Puts Players Through Their Paces

Tuesday, April 7th, 2009

Alan Shearer’s managerial debut didn’t exactly set the pitch alight with amazing football. It was always going to be a tall order to win against a consistent team like Chelsea. Shearer himself opted for a low key entrance; he knows as much as the fans know that his eight games are about the down and dirty scraps and not about the glamourous return of a local hero. With such a tough start, things will get tougher with Stoke and Tottenham to beat to at least secure some kind of confidence in the team for the remaining 5 games after.

Ronaldo is Ugly

Thursday, March 5th, 2009

A tunnel bust up between pretty boy Christano Ronaldo and Steven Taylor provided one of the highlights in last night’s match. The fracas aside, Newcastle did a fair job in worrying the Champions for much of the first half. A unexpected goalkeeping error ended Van der Sar’s record of 14 consecutive clean sheets in the [...]
