Shay Given – A Laughing Stock? -UPDATED

By Dave NU Blogger | August 10, 2010

Flicking through the papers today and lo-and-behold a big picture spread of an angry looking Shay Given. Rumours has it that he’s lost his place to Joe Hart as number 1 goal keeper at Man City. Reports suggest that Given will have to occupy the subs bench against Spurs this weekend and it sounds like our ex-goalkeeper is having none of it!

Given is quoted as saying:

“I haven’t joined Manchester City to sit on the bench or whatever. I’ve gone there to play, it’s an ambitious club and I’m an ambitious person, I haven’t gone there to take it easy and put my feet up. If that’s not the case, I suppose I’ll sit down on Monday with the club and see where I can go after that.”

Looks as if Mancini may have to do some smoothing over but considering he’s not even picked his team yet, I wonder what Given is on about. I guess Arsenal will probably snap him up. With Man City picking up so many big name players, you kind of expect egos to be bruised now and again.

UPDATE: Double trouble for Mancini. Looks like Bellamy has joined the bandwagon. The Sun reports that Criag Bellamy has now voiced his discontent about potentially not being picked for the start line up squad this weekend. Boo-hoo!
