Ashley Wants Wage Cuts

It sometimes stuns me when I read what papers print without proper facts to back up what they say. These guys write stuff in the papers to make a living whilst us humble bloggers just express personal opinion from a fan’s perspective. So you’d expect a certain degree of investigation work with the old journos when it comes down to it. However, sadly that’s not the case. It’s been some time since we have had several run-ins with the press or the so called ‘Southern’ press but today’s story takes a somewhat big chunk from the biscuit. The Daily Mail (not a paper I regularly read btw) printed a nice story typically thumbing down us Mags. It declared that once we are promoted, Ashley will dock all wages to our high profile players. They seem dead certain this would happen as well citing old news about £500,000 losses a week etc. Shock! And that’s not all as the sports Mail reporter states that if wages are reduced, they’ll be an ‘exodus of players’.
Well, I’m so glad that they have such a finger on the pulse for our dear club. I guess not content that we are practically breezing through and winning matches, they have to make negative claims with no foundation. Yes, there will be player in and out over the summer for whatever reason but Ashley will be breathing a massive sigh of relief that Newcastle are back in the Premiership – hell, he may even raise wages to keep players so we stay in the Prem for years to come! Also, reports that we still feature in the top 20 most financially positioned clubs in the world surely means something about what we can and can’t do.
