Newcastle United Counts the Cost but Hope Remains
By Dave NU Blogger | January 26, 2010
West Brom managed to do what they didn’t do at the start of last week and beat Newcastle United 4-2 on Saturday. The 4th round FA Cup match was almost one sided for most of the match but it will be Hughton determining the cost to our Championship promotion bid with injuries sustained to Steven Taylor, Ameobi and Butty.
Although the FA Cup is far from the minds of fans in terms of priority for this season. Yes, it would have been great to proceed forward but my instinct says that let’s focus on the promotion and better luck on the FA Cup next season. We didn’t play that well on the day and the better team won and that’s that. Let’s move on.
Despite the injuries which we took , we have some movement on the player transfers. The Pompey defender, Mike Williamson, was rumoured to have signed through some news sources but I haven’t seen anything on the official channels. One player that is on board is Wayne Routledge, on a three and half year striker deal from QPR. Details are on the official site and we’ll look forward to seeing him play in Owen’s old shirt number tomorrow.
