Kevin Keegan Wins £2m For Dismissal

By Dave NU Blogger | October 2, 2009

Breaking news that the tribunal looking into the terrible mess caused by Keegan walking out of Newcastle last year, has awarded him just £2m for constructive dismissal. Hopefully this will put an end to the whole Kevin Keegan saga which has dragged on since 2008.

This is hardly the reported £10 m which he was seeking and the inflated media speculation that any awards will mean that Newcastle United will be put into administration.

UPDATE:  A full statement made by Kevin Keegan can be found here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1217663/Kevin-Keegan-Full-statement-winning-2m-damages-Newcastle-United.html?ITO=1490

Interesting. It details in parts how a player (most likely referring to Xisco) was bought  as a favour to two South American agents. Keegan objected and the club still went ahead and did it. The tribunal also agreed that Keegan was not given final say on transfers which was in breach of his contract. This was probably all up to Wise and Ashley as alleged which is now confirmed.

UPDATE: How could I forget Ignacio María González Gatti? Actually pretty easily considering he appeared fleetingly in our side as a signing from Summer 2008. The less said about him the better in this case.

The question now is, if Keegan was given a chance to manage Newcastle United again, would that be ok?
