Harewood On Target To Keep Newcastle Top
By Dave NU Blogger | October 1, 2009
Last night, St James’ Park provided the perfect backdrop for debutant, Marlon Harewood to score his first goal in a Black n White shirt. The Villa old boy had to tuck in a neat close range shot in the latter stages of the second half to put us level. Fair play to QPR who played well throughout the match but Hughton would have to think twice about playing a diamond formation from now on which left several areas exposed on the pitch.
The win here and at Ipswich leaves Newcastle United sitting three points on top after West Brom and Middlesbrough fluffed their recent matches. Although a three point cushion is hardly something to celebrate, we need to hold our nerve for the upcoming matches ahead of us.
Bad news for Manchester United struck last night as Owen broke down once again. Although this is like deja vu to us Newcastle fans, it was only a matter of time before, Owen would limp off. If the player had any sense, he should hang up his England dreams and work hard for his club, who incidently have given him a chance to win trophies as his career comes to an end.
