« Previous EntriesThe Tabloid Press And Newcastle United
Monday, December 31st, 2007For some reason, the press think that only Alan Shearer could come in and take the club places from the get-go. Over the weekend, I’ve seen 3-4 page spreads about Newcastle United all saying roughly the same thing: “Club in Crisis!”, “Sack Allardyce!” and “Alan Shearer is the saviour of Newcastle”. They take the same [...]
Newcastle Suffer Christmas Hangover Against Wigan
Wednesday, December 26th, 2007The team served a massive turkey to the fans today. This was not a juicy, gravy covered M&S turkey; this was a festering, mouldy, bird flu infected turkey from last year. The first moment, Wigan, who are already fighting for Premiership survival showed the spirit and determination to play the game. Newcastle were to put things politely, a [...]
Merry Christmas!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Disappointing But Newcastle Takes a Draw
Monday, December 24th, 2007Defensive errors again let Derby take the match to Newcastle. The Rams opened the goal scoring account at 6 minutes in to the game. It was such a disappointment to see opposition could score so early on against us and it is becoming a odd feature in our recent matches.
Our back line didn’t exactly do any favours [...]
Derby Encounter Cometh
Sunday, December 23rd, 2007The Rams travel to St James’ Park looking to reverse their bad form but they will be up against a newly revived Newcastle side. Allardyce would hopefully dish out some pre-Christmas cheer to the fans by grabbing three points from another potentially winnable match.
Injury news on the Newcastle front looks to be improving. Capaca would retain [...]
Barton Seals Points For Newcastle Against Fulham
Saturday, December 15th, 2007It wasn’t the most entertaining of matches but Newcastle again stole the game with a late winner to leave travelling fans happy. Scrappy and sometimes down-right ugly, the match laboured on through 90 minutes until a late penalty saw Joey Barton slot the ball neatly in the bottom right corner.
The first half was barely worth talking about. [...]
Damn, Blackburn Lose!
Monday, December 10th, 2007Despite Blackburn showing some nice touches, they failed to beat West Ham as Dean Ashton was left alone in the box to knock in a single winning goal. It meant West Ham re-entered at tenth place whilst knocking back Newcastle back to eleventh place on goal difference.
West Ham have a tough fixture with Moyes’ Everton [...]
Team Transfer Talk
Sunday, December 9th, 2007Unfortunately for Newcastle and most premiership teams will be affected by the Africa Cup of Nations fixtures in January. Martins looks set to be our biggest loss as he joins up with the Nigerian squad. The only chance to delay his departure for Allardyce would be to ask Martins not to train with his national [...]
Newcastle Utd V Birmingham City 2-1
Sunday, December 9th, 2007Defence was a major issue again today in another crunch game for Allardyce & co. It was certainly not the prettiest game of football in the first half by any stretch but Birmingham managed to take the lead with an early goal in the 9th minute. Much like the match mid-week where defensive error allowed [...]
Newcastle Go Into the Weekend in Combative Mood
Friday, December 7th, 2007With a tough challenge mid week now behind us , Newcastle turned their focus immediately onto the weekend home fixture against Birmingham. The team are under no illusions and that Birmingham would be a chance, once again, to climb the table but also demonstrate to the fans (and media?) that the performance against the Gunners was not [...]
