A Dyer Situation for Allardyce?
By Dave NU Blogger | July 25, 2007
The BBC reports that Allardyce has given up trying to keep Keiron Dyer in a black n’ white shirt. Also an England International player, Dyer, is reportedly unsettled despite coming back from long term injuries. It has been cited that the player may have family issues. If Dyer heads for the exit this summer , it would leave big Sam with a bit of a selection headache in midfield. Bearing in mind Barton is out of the picture probably until late September and Duff also sidelined bringing in another midfielder or two in the transfer window maybe a good idea. However, with Albert Luque possibly playing in midfield perhaps this could be an unexpected opportunity for him to shine and plug any gaps.
So with Dyer considering leaving, where would he end up? West Ham may probably put in a bid combining him with another ex-toon midfielder along the way. Or perhaps he would hop across to Manchester City? Either option, Dyer hasn’t endeared himself to the Toon Army lately and his patchy injury record has disappointed and frustrated many. Personally, I think the 28 year old is past his best. It’s time to move on.
